Therapy information

Clients are seen for individual therapy and may elect to participate in group therapy as well. My practice includes young children, adolescents, young adults, adults, families and couples. I have been serving clients since 2003 in a variety of helping relations and roles, including career counseling, emergency mental health, and psychotherapy. I have significant experience working with trauma survivors, individuals struggling with suicidal thoughts, and severe and persistent mental illness.

I recognize that in therapy, each client is unique and has individual goals. We spend time in our first session discussing your immediate needs and the goals you desire to achieve. These goals become the compass for our time together, ensuring your therapy is goal directed and works toward achieving your goals. At this first session, we also identify your immediate needs and how to reduce any significant symptoms you have. My approach to therapy can be described as multi-dimensional – I utilize several approaches to best meet your immediate needs, individual learning style, and longer term goals.

At your initial visit you will take some time to fill out paperwork which tells me about you (or your child/teen if the appointment is for a child) – where you’re from, some information about why you’re seeking therapy and simple information like your address and phone number. At this first session you will have multiple opportunities to ask questions.

I am a unique practitioner in central Vermont because I am available to my clients for their emergency mental health needs after hours and on the weekends. I am available to clients by phone between sessions and can accommodate emergency appointments and sessions after hours and on the weekends.
