Types of therapy offered & philosophy My therapy style is to genuinely accept my client’s for where they are in life, to hear them fully, and provide the most beneficial counsel possible. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, solutions focused brief treatment models, mindfulness psychology, and the humanistic/existential schools of thought. I believe that positive change in the individual’s life can only begin when a person is willing to make changes in their mode of thinking or doing. My role as a therapist is to help my client’s to identify areas where they can make those changes.

Background My clients range from adolescents (10-12), teens (13-18), transition age adults (19-22), adults (22+), and seniors (65+). I apply an integrative approach to therapy, in other words, I draw from several different disciplines, including but not limited to: cognitive behavioral, solutions focused/brief treatment, mindfulness, and family systems. I have extensive experience working in emergency mental health services performing crisis intervention and assessment in a variety of settings. I work with children, young adults, and teens struggling with behavioral issues at home and in school. I have worked closely with their parents and caregivers. I have solid experience working with school teams, DCF, mental health agencies, and behavioral specialists.
I have extensive experience working with individuals and families struggling with substance abuse issues. One of my areas of specialized study is in the realm of Grief Counseling and I have worked with many individuals on their journey to heal the pain of the loss of a loved one. Unfortunately, traumatic events come to us in a variety of forms, for some people, these events can leave a lasting impression that warrants treatment, I have worked with many survivors of emotional, sexual, and physical trauma. Anxiety and depression are prevalent in our society and I have worked with many people to help them regain their ability to enjoy life.
