Bio:
I received my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology at Antioch New England in 2000. I have worked for over seven years as an outpatient clinician at Washington County Mental Health. At WCMH I was trained in, and have been practicing Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, trauma work and play therapy. This summer (2014) I will be attending the level 1 training in Somatic Experiencing to expand upon the somatic trauma-focused aspects of my work. I am a musician and songwriter and I use songwriting and music as a clinical tool in my work with children, adolescents and adults. My interest in music as a healing tool also includes sound healing- I was certified as a Sound Healer in 2011 by Eileen McKusick, author of “Tuning The Human Biofield: Healing with Vibrational Sound Therapy.” Finally, I am a long time student of Archetypal Dreamwork and am excited to work with individuals interested in using dreams as a tool for healing and personal growth.
Therapy Style:
My clinical practice includes counseling and psychotherapy aimed at addressing issues relating to depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, spirituality, parenting, and interpersonal challenges. I work with children, adults and couples. My primary therapeutic orientation when working with adults is an integrated approach of mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and insight oriented therapy including Archetypal Dream Work. I also incorporate elements of expressive arts therapies in work with clients who are interested in and may benefit from a supplementary, arts-oriented approach. My work with children is a combination of CBT, expressive arts therapy, and non-directive and directive play therapy for younger children.
